The Ohio Masonic Home's Masonic Senior Services of Ohio Corporation's I-CARE program was honored by AOPHA, The Advocate of Not-for-Profit Services for Older Ohioans, with its 2008 Social Commitment Award at an awards celebration banquet on Sept. 9 at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus.
The social commitment award recognizes the achievement of an individual program or organization that made a significant contribution to social justice, cultural diversity, equal opportunity or harmonious relations.
The program was recognized for ensuring Masonic brothers and sisters have the choice and opportunity to remain independent in their homes, providing much needed coordination of services.
Greg Holm, the Masonic Senior Services President, and Faith Kiger, I-CARE manager, accepted the award. Several I-CARE coordinators from around the state as well as several I-CARE committee members from across Ohio also participated.
Springfield Masonic Community and Western Reserve Masonic Community were also recognized by AOPHA for having deficiency-free residential care facilities. And Heather Smith, a nurse at Springfield Masonic Community, was also recognized for earning a 2008-2008 AOPHA nursing scholarship.
