Browning Masonic Community and the OMH Resource Center Host Back to School Event

If you have school aged children, August is the month for thinking “back to school” is just around the corner.  No matter what school district your child attends, it’s time to be purchasing clothes and school supplies for opening day.

The Masonic Youth Outreach Program, a division of The Ohio Masonic Home Resource Center (OMHRC) held a Back to School Extravaganza on August 12th for 50 families. Everyone feasted pizza and snow cones.  The younger students enjoyed a bouncy house. The OMHRC Volunteer Group also helped to make this event a huge success.

Besides the great food and fun, the parents learned of resources in the Waterville area to support their students.  There was information about keeping active to applying for a library card for your son or daughter.

The Masonic Youth Outreach Program strongly believes in holding intergenerational events, children visiting community members that live BMC.  With the pandemic, this has been nearly impossible.  The Back to School Extravaganza brought that back to life.  Community members, staff and families enjoyed the event.

Every child that attended received school supplies to get their school year off to a great start. Families that couldn’t make the event were not left out. Their school supplies are being delivered to them. The school supplies were donated by BMC and Resource Center employees.

When you give of yourself and your time to support youth, there is always a child that touches your heart.  One young student excitedly told her mother, “I’ll have a book bag this year!”
