Vern Tatem's Story

Even though he didn't take up the game until he was 35 years old, Vern Tatem became a prolific golfer. Over 20 years, Vern won many club tournament championships. He even got a hole-in-one!

Alzheimer's robbed Vern of his golf game and even some of his memories of his golfing triumphs. But at the Masonic Health Care Pathways Center for Alzheimer's Care, Vern gets help from staff in reconnecting to his past. Like every resident of Pathways, a memory box outside Vern's room displays mementos from his life. At Pathways, Vern is reminded of his many accomplishments as part of the rehabilitative process that helps residents remain as independent as possible.
